Portofino polished plaster in a wine cellar in Beaconsfield

Clyde Builders brought us into a Beaconsfield project to craft a wine cellar with a distinctly Victorian character and a clean, modern edge. The space featured a brick coffered arch, and the finish needed to complement that architectural texture while delivering depth, mood, and longevity. We selected our Portofino polished plaster, pigmented to a dark charcoal gray, to achieve a self-colored, richly textured surface that would endure for the lifetime of the building and bring the cellar’s atmosphere together.

Specified by Danks Bagnell – longstanding collaborators who have engaged us on multiple Beaconsfield projects – the brief emphasized both aesthetic fidelity and performance. Portofino’s versatility allowed us to tune the tone and movement in the finish to sit naturally against the brickwork, enhancing the Victorian feel without overwhelming it. The work was completed this year alongside a large wet room, extending cohesive material quality across the property. Client feedback was emphatically positive and the success of the cellar led to a follow-on in the kitchen, with that polished plaster installation scheduled to feature on our blog next month.
